Vince reads from the music album cover to impress Penny who is taken in "Your music appreciation falls short of bay city rollers".

Penny is unsure about everything she has been married Graham over 2 years "decree comes thorough some" she wants tangible proof of the relationship. Vince takes a strange tact

VINCE
"Will you marry me?"

This is not what Penny wants she asks "Do you ever get lonely" Vince misunderstands what she is asking.

PENNY
"I'll repeat the question don't you ever get lonely living here on your own ?"
VINCE
"v Will you come and live here ?"
PENNY
"What about my parents"
VINCE
"I'd prefer it to be just you can me"

Penny remarks its her 28th birthday next week so she should move in Friday week.

Penny thinks to her and then smiles smuttily

DAPHNE
"You can change it"

She blows out the candles

DAPHNE
"What was it ?"

Penny's oncoming embarrassment is saved by her father

NORMAN
"If she tells us it wouldn't come true now"

The doorbell rings saving any further discussion and Penny goes to answer it

Interior - Night - The Warrenders House

Vince is at the door he wishes her a happy birthday then asks if Penny has told her parents she is moving out.

PENNY
"I mentioned the house was getting rather small for 3 adults and yesterday a builder arrived with an estimate for an extension"

Vince reminds her she has already left before to live with Graham

PENNY
"There a slight difference between leaving him and going to live with someone"

He tries to reassure her "You're not alone anymore" and then launches into a confident big speech about togetherness. This inspires Penny

"Very good .. I'll wait in the car"

"No its just I forgot my crucifix. I just say these things .. I'm trying to prove I'm not frightened of you"
DAPHNE
"you have to have to prove that to me"
VINCE
"I'm not I'm trying to prove it to me"
