"Yes I suppose you're right Pen its just an average sort of day get up in the morning a bit of breakfast pop down the court get divorced - go to lunch" Penny is feeling numb at the clinicalness of the divorce and likens it to having a bunion removed PENNY

"Theres no need to push me into a corner Vince" Pen confesses that graham has done her some good by recommending her for a management training course Vince see thorough it PENNY
"This course would mean you have to go away - don't you see Graham wasn't trying to help your career he was just trying to break us up" Penny tries to forgive Graham VINCE

"I better drink this wine then I've got an interview with Harry Carpenter in a minute" Penny goes over how easy a victory the divorce was she expected a fight. PENNY

"No I'll pay for it after all I've paid for all your other weddings" Daphne comes in and hears the wedding talk - when she finds out she starts going mad. Penny is being rational PENNY
"It isn't an easy decision my future lies in the balance - I can either accept the company's offer - build a career - travel - have total fulfillment and enjoyment of life. Or I could marry Vince" Daphne is hocked DAPHNE

"Absolutely perfect I'm a day early" VINCE
"Never mind Pen it makes a change" Penny refuses to go home Vince say she can stay PENNY

"Erhh why the blazer the tie and all the smellies" VINCE

"... But hes only getting engaged" Vince feigns the fact he doesn't have to go but Penny relents allowing him to go the 'local' pub with Stan Lawrence and a few of the others. He promises to be by 11:00 and bring her back a vegetarian dish from the bamboo house Interior - Day - Vince flatVince returns late - Penny coat and case are missing she is in his bed - he undresses to join her she wakes up so he changes his tact PENNY
"its six o'clock in the morning" VINCE
"Yeah couldn't sleep Pen - thought I may as well get up and do us a bit of breakfast" Interior - Night - A pubmelancholic music Vince is drinking after work eyeing up a girl and Penny walks in after having left his flat when she got bored She asks what time he got in last night VINCE
"must have been after 12" PENNY
"I sat up till half past five in the morning waiting for you. I hadn't been in bed long when you came in - six o'clock wasn't it ?" VINCE
"well like I said Pen it was gone twelve" Vince blames Lennie for wanting to go to a night club but Penny is not fussed about that PENNY
"Why did you take that girl home ?" VINCE
"Who told you ?" PENNY
"You just did" Penny doesn't want to hear any explanations she explains how she deals with it PENNY
"I lie to myself - its an art I perfected over the years - a kind of self preservation technique - I used to be able to convince myself of virtually anything black was white - day was night - you were telling the truth" She now admits that since her divorce things are different PENNY
"For the first time in I don't know how long I'm free" Vince reminds here of the fact that they will be getting married PENNY
"We won't be getting married in the now or distant future - we're not getting married full stop" VINCE
"What are you trying to say Pen" Vince is aghast as he has told everyone. Penny revels in this PENNY
"You had no right to tell them did - you'll just have to untell them" VINCE

"Oh I see what this is all about now this is just revenge" PENNY

"No I don't love you" Penny explains how she feels it is different this time as something she can't pout her finger on is missing. This has been prompted by finding that Vince has kept all her old love letters VINCE

"Well actually that's not entirely true - there is someone else" VINCE

"Me" Penny recounts how she has belonged to someone all here adult life PENNY
"And my mother thinks I'm Bonnie Langford" Vince explains about last night and how he took Lennie and the girl to a hotel and waited for 3 hours for them. He hopes this will patch it up with Penny PENNY

"Well what does it look like .. I might be able to pick one up at Unipart" Suddenly all is out in the open - Vince is calling off their wedding just trying to get back to normal but Penny is adamant and she is leaving to go on the company course PENNY
"Brussels or Paris I'm not sure yet" PENNY
"Suppose you're hoping for Brussels being a vegetarian" Penny begins to cry PENNY
"Well this is the first day of the rest of my life - what a bloody rotten start" Vince is desperately clutching at straws claiming he has already started to change VINCE
"I mean I hardly drink any more - I hardly drink any less either" It is all futile PENNY
"I've made up my mind I'm going and don't look at me like that you remind me of Bambi" Penny reassures Vince he will meet another girl soon but Vince is not convinced VINCE
"She wont kick me in the shins when I annoy her and she won't put semicolons in her love letters" Penny rises to leave throwing off all Vince's desperate attempts at keeping their friendship going - she is flooding with tears There is a discussion about how they should meet up again in a years time as the saw in some French film and a quip "I've never done anything to hurt you" - "Tell my shins that". The passion however erupts in a great outburst of the cruelty associated with the self inflicted solidarity VINCE

"Shut up - Let me walk away" Credits roll as Penny leaves
