Penny with very long hair prepares herself to go out - a horn sounds her lift for a "Bach recital at the town hall" has arrived. Daphne bids farewell.

Her lift is Caroline in an orange MG - Daphne is surprised - Norman turns up from golf and they return to the house. Caroline is concerned Penny is goes to a "rock party dressed like something out of little house on the prairie".

Interior - Night - 05:13 Party House

The party "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones. Zac - an ex roadie holds the guests spellbound in ludicrous name dropping anecdotes. Penny sits nervously on the sofa with Caroline having met Zac when he through their work when he insured an 1961 Renault Gaufin for 3rd party fire and theft at "The Royal National" insurance company where she is a secretary.

Vince defaces the posters on the walls. At 07:11 the music stops Vince eyes meets Penny's and they exchange glances. "Not Fade Away" starts. He comes over "Hi" he beams - "Hello" she croons. Vince invites her to the kitchen for a hot dog from Earl which he bins and a coke from Annie (the drink). "Little Red Rooster" starts - Vince admits to having gone to the Stones' IOW concert. 09:41 they kiss Penny is memorised - then again at 09:59.

Penny admits her favourite record is "As Tears Go By" and Vince's says his is "Lets Spend The Night Together". They dance to "As Tears Go By". She says she lives in Chipping Ongar. Vince says he's in consumer services with a company vehicle. Caroline is out for the count so Vince offers to taker her home on his bike - saying goodbye to Frank.

Vince drives penny home on his bike Penny's Home Number 23. Vince and Penny kiss on the doorstep planning a next Date

Daphne comes to the door to interrupt the pair Penny does not know Vince's name.

Next Saturday Vince and Penny cruise round for a party "Rock And Roll Part 2" by "Gary Glitter" plays on the radio of Vince's Dad's car . They approach a house with "Kung Fu Fighting" by "Carl Douglas" playing.

Many hours later and having escaped their predicament they row and Penny leaves then realises she might never see him again.

Wedding day Norman and Daphne's preparations no best man - doesn't read the telegram

Daphne arrives at the church meets Les - Rita and her sister Geraldine (husband Vic) and her daughter Little Shirl credited as Katherine ?. Vince is 15m late. Les storms off to find him. Vince wanders around looking at his watch.

Penny gets nervous as the limo has to fill up with petrol

Interior - Day - 53:35 A pub

Les interrogates Lenny about Vince's whereabouts who says that Vince has sent a telegram by the GPO to say the weddings off.

Exterior - Day - 54:15 Church

Les arrives to cancel the wedding. Penny pulls up ands Lenny is forced to tell her "Sorry Doll the wedding's off - Vince has done a moody".

Interior - Night - 57:45 Phone box Canvey Island

Vince calls the Warrenders from Canvey 562575 but line is engaged

Norman having paid the band and the hall calls the guests to cancel the reception. Lenny tries to pick up Penny. Mother consoles her and tells her they will move to escape the shame.

Exterior - Night - 62:10 Canvey Island

Vince walks to the end of the jetty - and is approached by Maggie a Samaritan.

Interior - Day - 64:40 Warrender's New House Months later

Penny has short permed hair Daphne introduces Graham to Penny who works at the estate agent a the top of the high street. They discuss the vegetarian restaurant in Latimer street - he has been one for 5-6 years and plays judo - badminton and is captain of the cricket team.

Interior - Day - 69:25 Bar - A year after the wedding.

Sad Cafe "Everyday Hurts" plays Chas works there. Vince meets Laurence who has seen Penny at a cricket match at 9 ashes. Karina introduced but Vince is mopping. Degenerates into a fight.

Penny hosts a dinner party for A J - Hilary - Nigel and Julia.

Interior - Night - 74:45 Penny and Graham's House

The dinner party is in full swing. Graham turns on Penny and A J defends her. They all leave. A J offers her a job.

New Year's eve. Vince has another bird Brenda. "Yellow River" plays.

New year eve Penny silently phones Vince then goes slightly barmy.

Tv "I counted them all out and counted them all back" speech fro the Falklands. Vince currently selling second hand cars (after about 60 jobs) is approached by Eddie Brown to run his betting shop and meets Stan.

Interior - Night - 87:25 A J Styles' Office Years Later

Penny has the bob. Elaine And Penny say goodnight to A J. Separated from Graham living with mummy and daddy. Penny leaves for a date with Rupert.

Interior - Night - 90:45 A J Styles' Office

Credits roll as Penny looks into the night remembering Vince.

Penny comes out of the toilet into the bar to hear some one smashing up the cigarette machine
